Administration Quickly Releases Funds to Repair I-95 Bridge in PA

The transportation department provides emergency funding for Philadelphia’s bridge collapse.

The Department of Transportation released $3 million of emergency relief to assist in the rebuilding of the collapsed I-95 bridge in Pennsylvania. A gasoline tanker truck exploded under that section of the overpass a week ago, causing massive damage to a key section of the highway. The department will likely make more formal funding available through due process at a later date, but this $3 million is available for immediate use to kickstart cleanup and reconstruction.

“Every day counts in this urgent reconstruction project, and the quick-release funding is an important step to help PennDOT rebuild the collapsed portion of I-95,” said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. “We will continue to use every federal resource we can to help Pennsylvania restore this key artery quickly and safely.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Pennsylvania highway officials as they lay the groundwork for the I-95 bridge rebuild.
  • For Secretary Buttigieg as the Transportation Department facilitates the initial work on the bridge collapse.
